Chris Borneman

Chief Operations & Technology Officer

Chris Borneman joined Exostar in 2001 as Chief Technology Officer; then took on the role of Chief Operations Officer in 2004. He is responsible for all of Exostar’s day-to-day operating and engineering activities. Chris and his team lead product definition, development and post go-live operations and support. Chris has led the development and deployment of one the largest business-to-business exchanges, generating over twelve million transactions and $35 billion in spend annually (2006). He sits on the board of CertiPath, a joint venture of ARINC, Exostar, and SITA that provides identify assurance services by operating a PKI bridge and cross-certifying enterprises and governments to this bridge.

Before joining Exostar he served as chief technology officer for Commerx which provided a B2B exchange for the plastics industry. Chris managed all aspects of information technology organization and information systems, including product design, application development, systems operations and technical support. While working at Ameritech, he was the lead server architect for NetPublisher, a multi-protocol engine that delivered content via web, gopher, and Z39.50 protocols. Chris held various other technical positions in the sales automation and leasing industries and has over 12 years experience with Internet development.

Chris has been nationally recognized as a technical visionary and thought leader by Computerworld magazine, where he was listed as one of the Premier 100 IT Leaders of 2000; by InfoWorld magazine as a member of its Top 100 CTO Network; and by PC Magazine’s 1995 Editor’s Choice Award for the first multi-protocol web server for Windows NT. He has also authored numerous articles published in major professional journals.
