Exostar’s Managed Access Gateway Goes Live for Lockheed Martin’s Procure to Pay Portal

External Identity Management Service Enables Lockheed Martin to Outsource Supplier Access to Enterprise Supply Chain Management Applications while Enhancing Security

Herndon, VA, December 8, 2009 – Exostar, the leading provider of secure, on-demand, multi-enterprise collaboration solutions to the aerospace and defense (A&D) industry, today announced it has deployed its Managed Access Gateway (MAG) cloud-based identity hub offering as the single external point of access to Lockheed Martin’s Procure-to-Pay (LMP2P) supplier portal.

The goal of the MAG implementation is to ensure Lockheed Martin suppliers can access the data they need, while protecting business-critical supply chain management applications and data.

The LMP2P portal serves as the conduit to access several applications that previously maintained their own repositories of supplier organizations and personnel. Lockheed Martin’s implementation of the LMP2P portal set the stage for the establishment of common supplier master data for over 40,000 external vendors and their associated users. MAG will manage and control access to this data and the associated applications.

As an identity hub cloud service, MAG empowers supplier organizations to register their company and enroll new users to access applications federated with MAG – such as Lockheed Martin’s LMP2P – without requiring an investment in any on-premise software. MAG allows Exostar to deliver enhanced organizational information management by integrating with the Dun & Bradstreet service. MAG accommodates a variety of provisioning workflows that support complex business processes, which may vary depending upon the relationship between Lockheed Martin and the supplier. This level of granularity means that suppliers receive the appropriate level of access based on the kind of work they will be doing with Lockheed Martin.

With MAG, Exostar also provides all user provisioning data to Lockheed Martin data repositories and synchronizes Lockheed Martin’s supplier master databases using a secure, web services architecture. Lockheed Martin’s portal-enabled applications permit authorized suppliers to gain access once they have completed enrollment with Exostar.

MAG authenticates users and supports four levels of credentialing options ranging from single factor (user ID/password) to multi-factor (digital certificates on hardware tokens). This degree of flexibility in authentication ensures that suppliers who need access to more sensitive information can access it via the same process as those who require access to less sensitive information – simply by using the appropriate credentials.

After initial authentication at Exostar, authorized users are re-directed to Lockheed Martin’s LMP2P portal with user identity attribute information, including user credential strength, user identity-proofing strength and U.S. Person status. These identity attributes enable Lockheed Martin to not only control access to the portal, but also support complex authorization decisions to determine which users have privileges to access specific data or applications.

“By providing on-boarding, provisioning, authorization, training, and help desk services, we are alleviating customers’ supplier management commitments and encouraging supply chain collaboration,” said Vijay Takanti, Vice President of Security and Collaboration Solutions for Exostar. “They also benefit from consistent, accurate, standardized data spanning all systems, promoting cross-platform, aggregated reporting and easing systems integration. Suppliers have a single point-of-contact to access Lockheed Martin systems, simplifying their collaboration with Lockheed Martin while enhancing security and mitigating risk. In this environment, everybody wins.”
