Richard Addi

Richard Addi

President and CEO

Richard joined the management team of Exostar in early 2007, initially in the role of Chief Financial Officer. He became Chief Executive Officer in 2011.

Richard was previously the Vice President of Finance and member of the executive management team at Data Systems Solutions (DS&S), a world leader in asset management and predictive maintenance. The company is an international technology leader in various markets, including nuclear, aerospace & defense, and energy. When Richard joined the company it was a joint venture between SAIC and Rolls-Royce.

Prior to joining DS&S, Richard held various positions of increasing leadership, having worked for an international public accounting firm in Washington D.C. for several years before joining Atlantic Research Corporation, a subsidiary of Sequa. Richard then moved to Rolls-Royce North America where he assumed successive positions of responsibility, ultimately as Director of Tax for Rolls-Royce North America. In this position, he managed the design and implementation of corporate restructurings, cross-border financing, mergers and acquisitions, and economic development. In addition, he led the design and implementation of the company’s “Building Financial Acumen” program with the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.

In addition to holding an undergraduate degree in Accounting from Marymount University, Richard is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holds a Masters of Tax degree from The George Washington University. He also serves on the Aerospace Industry Association Board of Governors, and is a member of the American Institute for Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

Patrick Kannan

Patrick Kannan

Chief Finance Officer

Patrick came to Exostar in 2010 and joined the management team of Exostar in early 2012.  Leveraging more than 15 years of finance and accounting experience, he oversees the operational accounting, as well as all of Exostar’s financial and strategic planning efforts.

Prior to joining Exostar, he was the Controller at Data Systems and Solutions (DS&S), a world leader in asset management and predictive maintenance, at the time a joint venture between SAIC and Rolls-Royce.  During his time at DS&S Patrick helped lead the automation and transformation of the financial planning and reporting process.  The implementation of new tools and processes led to numerous efficiencies, as well as cost savings, and assisted the company in achieving record profitability margins over the next several years.

Prior to DS&S, Patrick held positions at Defense Group Inc., Hagler Bailly, Inc., and Hay Management Consultants. In addition to holding an undergraduate degree in Accounting from Radford University, Patrick is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a member of the American Institute for Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He also serves on the Board of Directors for the LuMind Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization focused on Down Syndrome cognitive research.

Ken Marks

Ken Marks

General Counsel

Ken came to Exostar in 2001 from Columbia Energy Group, a Fortune-100 energy company, where he served as assistant general counsel. Ken provides guidance on all legal matters at Exostar. He has also held leadership positions within private mid-size Wall Street law firms. Ken brings experience in both corporate and business law – including mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and securities compliance, negotiation, and documentation – and many years of active participation in the high technology industry.

Ken graduated from Columbia University School of Law in 1977, after receiving his undergraduate degree from Columbia College. He has attended executive development programs at the University of Maryland and The Wharton School. Ken has been active in both professional and community organizations, including the American Bar Association and as a fellow of the American Bar Foundation. He also served as a public arbitrator of the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board, as a member of the board of directors of the Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia, and as a member of Minority Partners in Majority-Owned Law Firms.

Vijay Takanti

Senior Vice President, Product Development

As SVP of Product Development at Exostar, Vijay is responsible for the strategy and product road map, design, development, and customer delivery of Exostar solutions. Vijay has more than 20 years of experience in electronic data processing, application design and development, and information security solutions. He joined Exostar through the acquisition of Evincible® Software in 2004, where he was the founder and CEO. At Evincible®, Vijay developed solutions that bridge the integration chasm between business applications and security components, such as Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).

Prior to founding Evincible® Software, Vijay served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at the Society of Worldwide Interbank Telecommunication (SWIFT), where he architected the Next Generation of the SWIFT Net architecture. SWIFT is the financial industry-owned cooperative supplying secure messaging services and interface software to 7,000 financial institutions in 197 countries, processing on average an estimated USD 6 trillion of payment messages.

Vijay is recognized as an expert on the evolving technologies related to  identity management and cybersecurity, and he has engaged with a variety of enterprises on these topics. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics and Communications from JNTU in Hyderabad, India; a Master’s Degree in Computer Sciences from the Indian Institute of Technology in Khargpur; and an MBA from George Mason University, Virginia.

Doug Russell

Doug Russell

Vice President, Business Solutions

Doug joined Exostar in the fall of 2006, and is responsible for Exostar’s Business Solutions group. This includes all aspects of the programs from roadmap through deployment, implementation, and support. Doug has leveraged his years of manufacturing experience to build out a lean, process-based support organization that accelerates the client’s realization of value and benefits found in Exostar’s offerings.

Doug has spent the bulk of his career in the military and defense industry. Spending 22 years in manufacturing, he is an executive level operations professional, experienced in management, administration, contracts, finance, and general operations of military and aerospace manufacturing and IT organizations.

During the three years prior to joining Exostar, Doug was the Chief Operating Officer for a California-based microelectronics company supporting most of the major missile and space programs active today. Prior to that, he was with a defense electronics company for more than 18 years, manufacturing ground-based vehicle components, primarily to support the M1 Abrams and Bradley vehicles, as well as the Ground TOW Missile Programs. Doug spent the final seven years there as VP President and General Manager.

Doug began his career as a commercial pilot, and has accumulated 3000 hours over the years.

Eric Sorensen

Vice President of Operations and Service Delivery

Eric Sorensen joined Exostar in early 2016.  As Vice President of Operations and Service Delivery, he leads a centralized operations team whose focus is on supporting customers on the use and integration of Exostar’s products into their businesses.

Eric has always enjoyed driving positive transformation efforts within the organizations he’s supported.  He has spent the last 23 years of his career in the financial services industry helping various departments reengineer business operating models, improve technology utilization, and create and implement risk management models.  These roles have afforded him the opportunity to transform businesses, attitudes, and save millions of dollars.

Prior to Exostar, Eric was the Vice President of Operations at Freddie Mac, supporting the Making Home Affordable Compliance program.  In this role, he ensured execution of the division’s operations, including strategic planning, project management office, technology integration, program reporting, supply chain management, policy/procedure management, and internal auditing.  He previously had nearly 16 years of progressive accomplishments in leadership roles at Freddie Mac, leading shared service organizations, technology improvement initiatives and turn-around efforts.  Before Freddie Mac, Eric held positions at CC Pace Systems, Independence Financial, and ITT Financial Services.  Eric holds a Business Administration degree in Operations Management from Radford University.  Eric spends much of his spare time volunteering with his church, where he sits as an Elder on the leadership board.

Venencia Magnusen

Human Resources Senior Director

Venencia Magnusen joined Exostar in June 2015 and currently serves as the company’s Human Resources Director.  In this role, Venencia is responsible for planning and implementing Exostar’s Human Resources strategy.  She directs the development of the company’s workforce, including talent acquisition, leadership development and training, employee relations, compensation, and benefits.

Venencia has extensive experience developing and implementing successful talent assessment, employee engagement, and development initiatives. She is highly effective in collaborating with her client base at multiple levels by capitalizing on her experience, as well as her interpersonal and customer service skills. In addition to being an independent thinker with a bias for action, Venencia is dedicated to understanding the customer’s needs to ensure that Human Resources positively impacts business success. She’s a proven change agent with strategic vision and proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Prior to joining Exostar, Venencia served as a Human Resources Manager at Harris IT Services, supporting an international client base within the Department of Defense line of business. Venencia received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and her Master’s degree in Organization Development and Knowledge Management from George Mason University.

Sean O'Neill

Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development

Sean O’Neill joined Exostar in the fall of 2016. As Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development, he is responsible for maintaining Exostar’s corporate strategy, identifying new strategic partnering opportunities, and strategically positioning the company to increase our market share. Over his 20-year career, Sean has held executive and senior management positions in small to large companies during high-growth, transformation, merger, and acquisition. His background includes leading strategic initiatives, driving sales and growth activities, developing innovative technology solutions, and delivering consulting and other professional services.

Before joining Exostar, Sean was the business and corporate development leader for Triumph Enterprises, a Cybersecurity and Data Analytics focused solutions provider to the Defense, Health, and Civilian sectors of the Federal Government. Prior to Triumph, Sean was a business unit leader for Aquilent, a leading solutions provider of Digital Services, DevOps/Agile, and Cloud Services. In this role, Sean contributed to the growth of the company from $30M to just over $100M over 4 years. He also established the first corporate PMO and led strategic programs for the $1.5B Americas division of the UK-based Serco Group plc, a global public and private sector services and solutions provider. Before Serco, Sean spent 10 years in senior management positions for technology companies supporting clients in the Aerospace, Financial Services, Hospitality, and Retail industries.

Sean holds a BS Accounting Degree from George Mason University, and an MBA and MS Information Systems from the University of Maryland, Smith School of Business. He has also been a PMI certified Project Manager since 2002.

Waide Jones

Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer

Waide joined the management team of Exostar in mid-2015 as the Director of Information Security.  He became the Chief Information Security Officer in August of 2016.  In this capacity Waide directs the Exostar information security program to protect its information, assets, and customers.

Prior to joining Exostar, Waide spent 17 years of his career with Lockheed Martin where he held various technical and leadership roles.  He is an accomplished leader and IT security architect.  He has a proven ability to develop and execute cyber security initiatives that include people, process, and technology.  Waide is experienced in working with industry peers to influence change and create opportunities to better protect critical information from cyber threats wherever it resides.  His experiences range from program/team leadership, strategy development, cyber security risk management, supply chain cyber security, budget & financial planning, risk and vulnerability assessments, audit, IT architecture, secure system design, CIRT, forensics, and policy/standard development.

Waide holds a Master Degree in Telecommunications and a Bachelor Degree in Management Information Systems from George Mason University.  Waide has several certifications to include the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

Dipto Chakravarty

Chief Technology Officer

As Chief Technology Officer at Exostar, Dipto is responsible for the strategic design, software engineering, and ongoing innovation of the company’s technology infrastructure, operations, and delivery. Dipto brings a diverse set of information security skills and experiences to Exostar.

Dipto has a track record of success in the development and re-engineering of solutions in the security field, spanning identity management, cybersecurity, and threat remediation, among others. He possesses deep domain expertise in software-as-a-service, cloud, mobile, and Internet of Things technologies, leveraging them to drive revenue and consistently win industry awards. Dipto’s portfolio includes 11 patents, several best-selling books, and high-profile speaking engagements.

Dipto comes to Exostar from CA Technologies, where he was Senior Vice President and General Manager of its core security IAM business unit. At CA, he also served as Senior Vice President of Engineering, with oversight of the company’s cybersecurity product lines. Prior to CA, Dipto held executive positions at ThreatTrack Security, Novell, and Thomson-Reuters. He began his career as a software engineer at IBM and Bell Labs after graduating with undergraduate and graduate degrees in computer science from the University of Maryland.
