Exostar Receives Trust Certification from Adobe for Digital Signatures

Qualification for Inclusion on Adobe Approved Trust List Enhances Value of Exostar’s Public Key Infrastructure Identity Credentials by Building on U.S. Federal Bridge, SAFE-BioPharma, and EU Qualified Certifications

HERNDON, VA, March 16, 2017 – Exostar, whose cloud-based solutions help companies in aerospace and defense, life sciences, and healthcare mitigate risk and solve their identity and access challenges, today announced recognition from Adobe that further facilitates secure business collaboration throughout the Exostar community and beyond.  Exostar is now a certified member of the Adobe Approved Trust List (AATL), a program that allows users to create digital signatures that are trusted whenever the signed document is opened in Acrobat or Reader software.  Exostar’s public key infrastructure (PKI) services previously have been cross-certified with the U.S. Federal Bridge Certificate Authority and the SAFE-BioPharma Certificate Authority, and have been accredited as EU Qualified by tScheme.

Achieving AATL status is impactful because any recipient who opens an Adobe document digitally signed using an Exostar hardware PKI certificate immediately will see confirmation of trust of the sender’s identity.  Adobe validates the digital signature by confirming the credential was issued by a certificate authority that belongs to the AATL, that the credential was valid when used to apply the signature, and that any changes to the document meet specifications set by the document’s author.

“Individuals with credentials issued by our PKI service offerings now can consistently and reliably create Adobe-trusted, non-repudiated digital signatures with long-term validation that transcends credential expiry,” said Matthew Williams, Exostar’s Product Manager, Security.  “As a result, organizations can more quickly, cost-effectively, and compliantly collaborate with their customers, partners, and suppliers both within and outside of our aerospace and defense and life sciences communities.”

The AATL program provides an easy way for all Exostar PKI certificate holders to digitally sign Adobe documents confidently, knowing their signatures will automatically be trusted.  Exostar gained AATL accreditation after an evaluation that confirmed its root certificate authority, services, and credentials all met the assurance levels imposed by the program’s stringent technical requirements.  Exostar also appears on Adobe’s European Union Trust List because of its EU Qualified accreditation.
