Exostar to Moderate Cybersecurity Panel at Aerospace Industries Association Supplier Management Event
SVP Vijay Takanti to Lead Discussion on DoD DFARS Compliance with Executives from Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems, Boeing, Raytheon, and Northrop Grumman

The session will take place at the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) Spring Supplier Management Council (SMC) meeting. The event, driven by the theme “Innovation that Works,” will be held March 20-22, 2018 in Indianapolis, IN.
Vijay Takanti, Exostar’s Senior Vice President of Product Development, will lead the conversation with security, compliance, and supply chain executives from Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems, Boeing, Raytheon, and Northrop Grumman. The panelists will describe how their organizations have been affected by the DoD’s Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations Supplement (DFARS) clauses for handling Covered Defense Information (CDI).
These DFARS CDI clauses incorporate the 110 security controls defined in Special Publication (SP) 800-171 authored by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The deadline for organizations – and their global, multi-tier supply chains – to address the NIST SP 800-171 cybersecurity requirements passed at the end of 2017. Panelists will share real-world insights on compliance complexity, resources, enforcement, and impacts on business development, program execution, and customer and supplier relationships.
“With cybercrime damage costs across industries exceeding $3 trillion globally in 2015 and expected to double by 2021, the DoD was prescient in its plan to strengthen its cybersecurity standards,” Takanti said. “Because approximately 160,000 organizations comprise the DoD’s supply chain, achieving full compliance represents a massive challenge for the Government and its prime contractors. We look forward to an animated panel discussion and exchange of thoughts and experiences that advance this pressing, business-critical concern.”
